11:00 am - 12:00 pm
Olin 101

This seminar is for those who are totally new to digital videos but want to learn about it to see if digital video fits their instructional needs.
This seminar will address the following frequently asked questions:

  • What do I need to do and what hardware and software do I need if I want to make digital videos? What if I have the existing VHS tapes and want to make them into digital videos? What if I want to shoot new video clips directly to digital?
  • What types of video format are available? What are the differences? Which ones are recommended?
  • How do my students see my digital video material? Should I put it on the web? steaming? on CD-ROM? on DVD?
  • What's the facility available on campus for me to deliver steaming videos? What would I need to do to make that happen?

If time allowed, you can try out some equipment and software for the digital videos.

ATG's Tick-Tech-Talks

We called these seminars "Tick-Tech-Talks" because we want to introduce the technology (Tech-Talk), but we do not want to involve the overwhelming technical details (therefore, a "Tick").

In these Tick-Tech-Talks, we will demonstrate and showcase the possibilities of how the technology, as a tool, can be used in the classroom. We are not going into the technical details of "how-to". We hope these sessions will give you general ideas and a feel of what the technology can do for instruction, and will inspire your ideas of how you would like to apply that technology in your classes.

ATG Tick-Tech-Talks are open to all Wake Forest faculty members. The schedule is listed below. To register for any of these sessions, please fill out and submit the online registration form, or you can contact us directly (atg@wfu.edu, or ylwong@wfu.edu, x4717).
